 Astronomy optics is a branch of optics and photonics that uses light-controlling components for imaging celestial objects. Astronomical optics combines precisely machined lenses and mirrors to reduce any image distortion, and highly sensitive sensors to detect low levels of light. Adaptive astronomy optics can be used for astronomical telescopes.

 

Large size optical mirror is an importance of astronomical system. The most common are Newtonian Mirrors and the classic Cassegrain. These mirrors are usually divided into primary and secondary mirror. The primary mirror is mostly parabolic design.

  The 1/4 wave plate uses the anisotropic characteristics of the material to have different refractive indexes and propagation speeds for light in different polarization directions, resulting in a phase difference between the two components, and converting linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light, or converting circularly polarized light into linearly polarized light.   The 1/4 wave plate can realize the mutual conversion between linearly polarized light and circularly polarized light.   Polarizing Cube Beamsplitters  Introduction Polarization beamsplitter cube  split randomly polarized beams into two orthog-onal, linearly, polarized components-S-polarized ligh is reflected at a 90°.   Angle while P-polarized light is transmitted. Each beamsplitter consists of a pair of precision high tolerance right angleprism cemented together with a dielectric coating on the hypotenuse of one of prism.   The coatings have been designed to hold both the S-and P-polarization components to the same ratio of reflection-to-transmission over aspecific laser wavelength region.   This means that they will not change the state of polarization of the incident beam. The low polarization dependence of the metallic-dielec-tric coating allows the transmission and reflection for S-and P-polarization states to be within 6% of each other.
