Plano Convex Cylindrical Lens

A plano-convex cylindrical lens is used to condense light in one axis. A positive plano cylindrical lens is able to create a line image from a point of light, to change the aspect ratio of an image or to focus collimated input light to a line. Plano- convex cylindrical lenses are typically used for illumination of slit and line detector arrays, laser projection, laser line focussing and anamorphic beam shaping.   The 1/4 wave plate uses the anisotropic characteristics of the material to have different refractive indexes and propagation speeds for light in different polarization directions, resulting in a phase difference between the two components, and converting linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light, or converting circularly polarized light into linearly polarized light.   The 1/4 wave plate can realize the mutual conversion between linearly polarized light and circularly polarized light.   Polarizing Cube Beamsplitters  Introduction Polarization beamsplitter cube  split randomly polarized beams into two orthog-onal, linearly, polarized components-S-polarized ligh is reflected at a 90°.   Angle while P-polarized light is transmitted. Each beamsplitter consists of a pair of precision high tolerance right angleprism cemented together with a dielectric coating on the hypotenuse of one of prism.   The coatings have been designed to hold both the S-and P-polarization components to the same ratio of reflection-to-transmission over aspecific laser wavelength region.   This means that they will not change the state of polarization of the incident beam. The low polarization dependence of the metallic-dielec-tric coating allows the transmission and reflection for S-and P-polarization states to be within 6% of each other.
